There was a possibility of wind speeds increase in the coming days, the Department of Meteorology warned today.
“Strong winds are expected both inland and in the sea areas around the island,” the Department sources said.
“Strong and gusty winds reaching 50kmp/h are expected in the Central Hills, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Western and the Southern Province and also in the Batticaloa and Ampara, Polonnaruwa and Kurunegala Districts in the coming days,” the Meteorology Department said.
“Wind speeds in the sea areas, partially in Southern and Western parts will also increase.
“Showers are also expected in some areas in Galle, Matara and Kalutara Districts,” the Department said.
Meanwhile, Temperature in several areas in the Eastern part of the country was reported to be high with highest 37.1c degrees being recorded in Pottuvil, while the temperature in Ampara was 36c degrees, Batticaloa 34 c and Trincomalee 33c. (Yohan Perera)
