Showery conditions are likely to increase over the island, particularly in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Uva provinces from today, due to the atmospheric disturbance developing to the Southeast of Sri Lanka, the Meteorology Department said.
It said cloudy skies could be expected over most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers would occur over most provinces of the island.
Heavy falls of about 150 mm can be expected at some places in Northern, North-Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Hambantota District, the Met Department said.
“Fairly heavy falls of about 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Central and the Sabaragamuwa Provinces and Galle and Matara districts,” the forecaster said
The Department had also requested the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
