The Election Commission has asked the Health Ministry Secretary to launch an inquiry over the presence of Government Medical Officers Association President Anuruddha Padeniya at the launch of the election manifesto of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
In a letter, the Health Secretary has been asked to hold an inquiry into the incident, ask for his explanations and report the outcome to the Election Commission.
The Election Commission said doctors and staff grade officers were not permitted to participate in political activities in public or not.(Ranjan Kasthuri)
