Our great country with 5000 year history was ruthlessly invaded and ruled by the Europeans for 450 years and we were all made into second class citizens in our own country. Now it is these same criminal Europeans and their illicit son “America” who are calling us to stop our links with China and shedding loads of crocodile tears for us.

Very expensive beach. We could’ve just cleaned up the Wellawatte, dehiwala and mount Lavinia beaches at a fraction of the cost.

Is this because no one wants to invest in this white elephant to develop the reclaimed land? So we spent so much of money to develop a beach?

Government didn’t spend a cent on this. It’s a total FDI project. So be it China or America, if no loan and FDI, why not. Otherwise we will never be a developed country. If Singapore thinks like most of Sri Lankan’s, they would have been under developed than Malaysia. Look where they are now.

@Sri Lankan: Mate, who invited the Europeans, the Portuguese? It was one of the three brothers who ruled the nation except the North. Now who invited the Chinese? Again one of the three brothers who are ruling the Nation including the North. Well history repeats itself! First three sons of King Wijebaku and now three sons of Rajapaksa!

This Colombo Port City Project is due to be completed only in 2043 with lots of conditions attached and will have a little piece of Chinese territory in the Indian Ocean when it is completed. Nothing comes free from China.
