Chatura spent Rs.2.1mn for his wedding at Temple trees

Referring to MP Chathura Senaratne’s wedding reception held at the hall adjoining Temple Trees, Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Management and Law and Order, Nalin Bandara said the MP had paid Rs.2,180,000 (Two million one hundred eighty thousand) to reserve the hall.

He told a news briefing that there was no misappropriation of public funds because he paid for the entire cost of the wedding such as for decorations, food and beverages.

“Some MPs are claiming that public funds had been spent for the wedding. It was not so,” the deputy minister said.

“Those who make baseless allegations about this wedding, must not forget how Temple Trees was used during the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.” (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Also Chathura Senaratne please state whether you have disclosed such large amount of funds , to the tax dept., which you have now lavishly spent on the wedding ? = my guess is like most of our readers ! when it comes to politicos.

Quite an amount to spend, which occassion was graced by WW n Sujatga akka of JO..comes to mind the 21st Bday celebration of Keheliyas daughter in NEW YORK, just the cake cost US$12000×162=1,944,3000.00All can afford to be lavish AFTER being elected to a position as a politician. Pretty soon parents would want their children as future POLITICIANS instead of Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants or Businessmen

The cheque just say it is for secretary to the prime minister and the value. It does not say it is from Chatura or for what purpose. Cheap effort to cover gross misuse of public property.

Well … nice try macaroon you forgot to add the tropical nuts in to the cookie mix. Apparently, the payment was made after the wedding and on the day the story was first reported by the daily mirror. [in advance meaning prior to the date of the wedding] if so when ? What are the written procedures on this rent out business when a public office is rented to a Govt official ?

The payment made is one side of the story. However, using the country's Prime Minister's official residence for such purposes is diluting the dignity of the place. Such a situation cannot be tolerated, and the place should not be downgraded to a mere reception hall under any circumstances
