President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to provide an opportunity for the health workers who are at the frontline of the battle against Covid-19 to spend a vacation with their family members at a five star hotel, the Health Ministry said.
“I was informed by the President to award the health staff members to enjoy time with their family members leisurely at luxury hotels in Sri Lanka,” the minister said.
This was announced during a meeting held between health directors of the hospitals, which provided facilities for the Covid-19 patients, and the health minister.
The meeting was held today to discuss the issues pertaining to in-house Covid-19 patients.

True, but is Srilanka that rich. This kind of things happens in oil-rich Arab countries since they have excess money just to throw away. but a country like Srilanka?. Any country loving health staff will politely decline this offer, I suppose.

CLEARLY A ELECTION BRIBE" One of the cheapest idea of a President ,they do not have money to run the country and asking for salary cut for poor people and how they get money for this type of stupid thing ? I live in USA and there were million of front line health workers who handles millions of Covid-19 patients but they did not get this type of treatment from the government? How many people affected with Covid-19 in Sri Lanka ?

These health officials did a great job and we appreciate it. If anyone wants to give them any reward that is also appreciable, but, it should be done with his or her personal wealth and shouldn't be the tax payers money.
