JVP MP Bimal Ratnayake yesterday said two Parliament Select Committees (PSCs) should be appointed to recover the losses and damages caused to the country by the political coup.
He told Parliament that President Maithripala Sirisena was responsible for the political impasse and that he should apologize to the nation for his actions.
"The purported government is not accepted by the international community. Even the Rajapaksa-friendly countries such as Swaziland and the Maldives do not accept it. Only some pro-Rajapaksa media institutions support them. The PSCs should comprise of professionals in the legal fraternity and other respected disciplines in order to enlighten the people on the true situation. Information on the coup should be taught to students so that this would not be a bad precedent. The PSCs should not merely assess the losses to the economy and resources, but should also look into the damage caused to the image of the country. They should recover the losses from those involved in the coup," he said.

JVP has been corrected their cause but You people still worship the robbers and justify their actions.

This country will never develop the correct way as long as people like you are there. When you get a turning point learn to turn for everybody's betterment.Otherwise your children and generations ahead will follow the same pathetic way u think and it will lead the country to be poor and uneducated forever.
Siripala Friday, 30 November 2018 09:01 AM
As a nation mistakes have to be corrected if we are to progress
Nimal Edirisinghe Friday, 30 November 2018 09:01 AM
Thanks for confirming JVP also dance according to the tune of the so called 'international community'. What a summersault from JVP core values in the past.
Citizen Friday, 30 November 2018 10:00 AM
How uneducated are you? This is not 1900 to grow manioc and eat. We as Sri Lankans never can be isolated with the world. We need to work equally with international community. We need to learn and trade with internation community. If the international market is not willing to buy our production whom you are going to sell and bring money to develop the country and pay back foreign debt. Where to find money in the island?? Printing?????

Hats off for the JVP for all the efforts made to safeguard democracy and bluntly exposing and refusing meeting President saying to correct his own mistakes.

Bimal do you want to spend more public money for commissions. Is it possible to take action on recommendation by the PSC or to recover the losses incurred. Our country history never proofed any action of Commissions of inquiries.

Be matured, think about the country and the pupil. Most of the silly comes from abroad who don’t get affected by the local situation.

Please Do not turn our country in to another Venezuela or North Korea. Your coups in 71, 87,88,89 cost over 100000 peoples lives.

At the same time a special presidential commission should be appointed to recover the cost for damages done by JVP during 88/89 to public properties
