All liquor shops closed until further notice

The government has ordered the closure of all liquor shops in the country until further notice, the Presidential Media Division announced this morning.

    Suspending legitimate business is a stupid move. This would invariably enhance demand for illegally brewed liquor which is poisonous.

    All over the world liquor shops are opened except in Sri Lanka because our people are selfish and uneducated. They not only buy for their consumption but also to sell black market. The wine stores are more stupid. This is the same that ha pend when the super markets were opened. They never controlled the amount that should be given to one person.
