A total of 53 individuals including Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) Politburo members Duminda Nagamuwa and Kumar Gunaratnam have been arrested for protesting outside the US Embassy in Kollupitiya violating a court order, Police Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne said.
He said the suspects are to be produced in the Colombo Fort Magistrate Courts today.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday issued an order preventing a protest organised by the FSP, condemning the murder of George Floyd, from taking place outside the US Embassy.
The order was requested by the Kollupitiya Police OIC in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country. (DSB)

Why didn't this apply to Uni students when they conducted protests despite court orders? Why didn't the Hon. Judges who issued the order take action?
