5 motorcyclists and teenager killed in road tragedies

At least six people were killed in separate accidents that occurred at several places in the last 24 hours, police said.

A motorcyclist and a passenger were killed last night in a collision between his motorcycle and a bus at Kirindiwela in Randawana.

Another motorcyclist was killed when his motorcycle skidded off the road opposite the Weliwewa Vidyalaya in Suriyawewa and crashed into a nearby well.

Police said a 16-year-old youth was killed when the van he was travelling in veered off the Narammala-Kurunegala Road near the Ganegoda Temple while in another accident a motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a tractor on the Eppawala-Thalawa Road near Palugaswewa.

Another motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a lorry on the Colombo-Kandy Road near Galalpitiya.
