A 24-year-old youth was hacked to death and three others were seriously injured when four family members were assaulted with clubs and swords by some unidentified gangsters who broke into the house at Sangabo Mawatha in Danketiya on Sunday night.

Tangalle police said the eldest son Nuwan Chamira Andrahennedi died on admission to the Karapitiya Hospital.

His father, mother and brother were admitted to hospital in a serious condition. Tangalle Magistrate K.U.T. De Silva who and held the preliminary magisterial inquiry directed the police to arrests the suspects and produce them in Court. (Ariydasa Kodituwakku)
