After an inmate of Galle Prison was tested positive for COVID-19 at Senapura Quarantine Centre, 200 inmates and 20 officers at the prison had been subjected to PCR tests today.
An official attached to the Galle District Health Services Director’s Office said one of the two inmates sent from the Galle Prison to the Senapura Quarantine Centre has tested positive for the virus.
The inmate who was tested positive has maintained close contact with the inmate at Welikada Prison who was earlier tested positive for the virus.
At the Senapura Quarantine Centre, he had been subjected to three PCR tests and the results of the third test had become positive. (D.G.Sugathapala)
