5000 mtrs= 5km? too much for school sport , Education Ministry must review all and must give medical fitness test for all student who particiapate sports.

yes the high costs are a reason - at the same time sri lankans have very poor knowledge on nutrition and a healthy diet - even if they could afford it they would just eat useless foodstuff.

Has the President got to involve himself to resolve this matter as well ? when are those idiots at Education Ministry including thier Boss going to wake up from their slumber

It is not only hidden Medical Conditions, but Malnutrition due to the high cost of Foodstuffs that contribute to fainting and even Death. Have they checked what meals this girl had taken before she took part in the Sports Meet.? Athletes from developed Countries not only train their Athletes and Sportspeople, but put them on a strict nutritious Diet to ensure that their bodies are prepared for the strenuous demands made on them. Rice and parippu are not going to make them strong enough for the ordeals they will have to face.

The longest we did at school was the 1500. This was so even at the public school meets. Anyway, it seems like this child had run without proper practise.
