This is good but ineffective. This will pass like yet another silent law as key issues such as improving roads and better policing at key traffic areas are dealt with first.

While uncontrolled speeding shout be caught and punished, it should not be a gold mine for unscrupulous traffic policemen, which all of us motorists are quite familiar. It is also said that the OIC of the police station with whom the speed gun is, charges a fixed fee upfront in the morning from the those going for traffic duty, to handover the speed gun. So naturally they have to make up that amount plus extra for them.

I am a motorist who drives long distances quite often and am rather puzzled at the rather reactive manner in which the issue of road accidents are addressed. On several occasions I have been almost forced off the road by busses traveling at very high speeds disregarding doubles lines, driving at times several hundred Meters on the wrong side of the road. Then we have the ultra slow drivers who " hog" the roads, not letting anyone pass, albeit on out station roads where lines are watched very keenly by the police. Hence a hapless driver out of sheer frustration crosses a line only to get pulled over. The three wheelers and two wheelers seem to have developed a complete sub culture by themselves, driving/ riding over pavements, crossing diagnally across vehicles in traffic, zig zagging, missing vehicles by millimeters. As an experienced rider/ driver I would suggest a more pragmatic and comprehensive approach to prevent accidents, save lives and bring disciple to the streets

In order to make a successful prosecution for speeding using a handheld speed gun police will have to provide the following.- Photographic evidence of you speeding with time and date along with the serial number of the camera- Annual calibration certificate to show that the camera reading is accurateOtherwise a good lawyer can get you free.

We need bigger roads which are divided in the middle. We need to stop shops on either side of the road and stop vehicles parking everywhere.Shopping malls with parking is the answer.

The Govt should have dealt with the carnage on the roads with several deaths reported on a daily basis - apart from the misery to those families, it no doubt costs millions caring for the injured? Why is the delay in implementing road rules specially with speeding buses which continue 24/7 breaking all rules? What is the IGP doing about this or does he too own such vehicles as rumoured.....! The Minister of Transport needs to wake up......

Kumar, Agreed very much with your comments. Genuine concern to solve the matter by authorities is a question.
