A complaint has been lodged at the Bribery Commission against former President Mahinda Rajapakse on charges of misappropriating Rs. 82 billion from tsunami funds in 2004 by Deputy Minister of Social Services Ranjan Ramanayake.

Ramanayake alleged the funds were wired to the Rajapaksa Memorial Educational, Cultural and Social Services Foundation.

“There is no difference between the person who snatched a necklace of a girl victimized by the Tsunami and someone who misappropriated Tsunami funds. The only difference is the necklace snatcher had been convicted while others are still roaming freely,” he said. (Vishva Gemunu Priyankara)

Appoint a Commission of distinguished people without any blemish, not retired supreme court judges.First advertise the names and ask for objections from the public. The Commission must be empowered to freeze the assets of all those who have acquired dispropotionate wealth whether these persons are alive or dead.Freeze the operations of Companies that have donatedmoney, houses or whatever to beurocrats Let them prove their innocence or fine them ten times the value of their donations.Start somewhere then the rest will follow.

I am not sure about this mans education..but I can say that he does not know the meaning of Billion and Million. If the value he says is 82 billion, he is probably mistaken. Rs 82 billions mean something around $1 billion in 2005. I am sure that our whole country did not get a billion dollars for the disaster management as donations. My child in grade 5 knows the difference between million and billion. This man probable needs a decent education before engage in politics.

Mahinda and god are two worlds apart. God is useful to him when for political purposes only, otherwise all his work is devilish.
