Please educate the young properly about our national heritage. That would be the only viable way to avoid such incidents.

Is he going to pardon the next person who defecates Sigiriya paintings as well. I agree it is a bad precedent.

Using the powers for a good deed is always welcome and the right thing to do. It was happening the other way around with the previous regime. i sure people should have a little sense of humor before making this sort of comments

At least Prsident should have reduced to a suspended sentence - ignorance of the law is not a defence when she damaged a national treasure - more so a world heritage item. This type decision though compassionate can lead to future abuse as a precedent is now set.

President MS should try and refrain from exercising this power, as it will inevitably lead to abuse as done by the President of the former regime! People who commit crimes should not be pardoned no matter how small or serious the crime.
Lokka Thursday, 02 April 2015 09:47 AM
Good decision. Poor girl. Ignorance has caused her this trouble.
