A heated argument between a minister and an opposition parliamentarian on Monday night had ended in an exchange of blows, political sources said.
This brawl is reported to have taken place inside a high-level government office.
A minister representing a minority political party in the UPFA alliance and an opposition MP representing the up-country with links to the government were those involved in the brawl.
The minister concerned had accused the MP of being a hypocrite and without any warning had assaulted the MP taking him by surprise.
Sources revealed that the MP had made some remarks about the minister during a programme telecast over a TV private channel and this had led to a heated argument resulting in the fisticuffs.
The onlookers managed to separate the two. Neither of them had complained to the police on this matter. A minister representing a minority political party in the UPFA alliance and an opposition MP representing the up-country with links to the government were those involved in the brawl.

Sri Lankan politicians (95%) are useless. They know only to behave like thugs, crooks and do illicit trades. They are there to show their power, and become rich overnight. We need to cleanup this mess starting from the top.
