Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake secured Cabinet approval today to open tenders for immediate power purchases.

Mr. Karunanayake told the Daily Mirror that he took steps to open tenders in advance rather than waiting till an emergency occurred. “In the past, there was a last-minute rush in getting tenders opened for power purchases in the event of an emergency. I want to avoid it,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)

Ranil and his 40 thieves, why is this thief has a cabinet post and still in the party is amazing. Of course the media in SL is useless. If this happens in any decent democratic country the politicians wont be in power. In SL with media incompetence these thieves will get re-elected to steal more.

    Nuwan Tuesday, 15 January 2019 06:14 AM

Good idea, but the devil's in the details. If he is intending to pay a holding fee to the power generation companies, that would be a waste of public money. On the other hand if it is an initiative to keep the diesel generation companies afloat during the wet seasons, how is it going to influence the decisions to invest in upgrades to the system in the long run to combat drought periods?

    Sunil Tuesday, 15 January 2019 06:25 AM

Of course, we can be sure that he will rob the country at every opportunity he gets, with the added blessings of the PM. Both of them should be chased out.
