President Maithripala Sirisena will be in the Philippines for a state visit from January 15 to 19, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of Philippines announced today.
President Sirisena is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte on January 16 to discuss “political, economic, cultural, and people engagement,” according to DFA.
DFA said President Sirisena will also visit the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Los Baños, Laguna during his trip in the Philippines.
“The visit of President Sirisena is the first by a Sri Lankan President serving both as Head of State and Government under Sri Lanka’s 1978 Constitution,” DFA added.
