way too many road accidents in a small nation every year.....local people never respect traffic rules...insanity

Since thirty years ago Premadasa got Samurdhi beneficiaries to man crossings ( he had vision certainly), we are talking about these crossings where a score of people lose their lives each year. We build airports and stadia and harbours but simple things where commissions are small, are neglected. Of course we are worried about cashew nuts because we are nuts alright.

Whilst we could all sit and be critical of the drivers, SL is one of the few if not the only country in the region that has unprotected railway crossing and some of these are death traps where it is not in open areas where a driver could see a train coming from some distance away.

FYI, This is an illegal crossing made by the locals. Look at the track. It does not have auxiliary rail. Speak something you really know

So, undoubtedly, the blame goes to the YAHAPALANAYA Govt. for not sticking to the policy of protecting the railway-crossing with proper gates.

Arrange SLA personals in all unprotected railway gates and protect people, as 300 000 SLA personels are wasting time in people lands, temples, schools etc.

the fault is mainly with the people secondary with the Government. People who drive a car should be able to check for approaching trains and stop. via DM Android App

Sri Lankans never let others move. Always they want to b3 the first.A lost nation
kumar Sunday, 16 September 2018 08:50 PM
I do not know whether we can man all level crossings. All trains should compulsorily toot as they approach level crossings and the drivers should slow down or stop at unprotected level crossings.

Why can't the minister of transport look into this small matters rather going into big matters. Railway crossing is indeed very necessary. And it can save so many lives when the trains pass thru. Mr.Minister look into this matter first.

Who is responsible for the unprotected railroad
George Monday, 17 September 2018 04:36 AM
Shame on our government , the government does not want to spend for railway crossings. However these baffoons are very good in implementing a law for not stopping at a crossing.
