It was the general public who should react if any violence broke out as the Joint Opposition protest progressed, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said at a news briefing early today.

“If we take stern action on this regard, the JO will accuse that the Government is misusing and violating democracy. Hence, it is up to the people to deal with protesters,” the Minister said.

“Many accuse that the Government is not taking any action because it is scared of this protest,” the Minister added.

“It is not so. We have given the freedom to protest to the JO,” he said. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

I am not a UNP supporter, I voted for MS to bring a corrupt free society. It was not delivered. As for my main topic, at present the crowds are only around Lake House junction. On the was back to Nugegoda, via Maradana and there is no traffic. Phase 1 of the mission a flop.

Go on and disrupt the country so the foreign tourists who are still in the country for summer holidays and bring the vital foreign exchange earnings to Sri Lanka can get fed up and no return in the future!Sorry foreigners in Colombo- you got problems going to the only international airport in the country today. Our politicians are only hungry for returning to power, greediness!!

Unchikun, I too am not a UNP supporter, I voted for MS to bring a corrupt free society. Hopes dashed; but it does not mean we can bring back the former corrupt regime. In a dilemma.
