Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera had been sentenced to 19-years imprisonment to be served in six years, for contempt of court by the Appeal Court, today.

However, a spokesman for the BBS said an appeal had been submitted to the Homagama Magistrate’s Court to be forwarded to the Appeals Court.

The Thera was accused of having been involved in an offensive behaviour at the Homagama Magistrate’s Court on January 25, 2016.

Justice delayed is justice denied. Its already late. Jail him immediately without parole. He is not a buddist monk - only a disgrace to the great religion.

Congratulations to the Appeal Court. The punishment is very lenient. Preferably he should have been given at least 20 years imprisonment.

"However, a spokesman for the BBS said an appeal had been submitted to the Homagama Magistrate’s Court" we thought this was the final appeal - whatever it is - don't release the thug on bail.

Minister badurdeen escapes. Vijayakala case take time. Its worse than contempt of court. It was outright treason. So much for the impartiality of law.

This so called thug in disguise should not be given even the slightest chance to see the light of day. Put him in maximum security isolation like in a 6 foot container.

The real loss of he being put behind bars will be to the UNP. He was involved in both the Aluthgama riots and the Digana Riots and in both instances the UNP benefited. I am sure the UNP will find a way getting him out closer to the next elections as he will be needed to stage another drama...
