The deceased were identified as Eranda Perera (36) of Hena Road, Nilan Shamika (20) of Divulapitiya and Viduranga Desha (31) of Morntuduwa.

Thousands of youths had participated in the Facebook Party at the premises of a popular hotel in Wadduwa beach reportedly organized by an advertising firm in Kaduwela. (Saman Kariyawasam)

Now , catch the so called organizers. The investigation out come will be as same as the British ruggerites. RIP to all. What's sort of self destruction is this?

These are the repercussions of the drug trade. Please bring in the death penalty for drug dealers asap.

    Saman Sunday, 05 August 2018 08:12 PM

Like one other said this could be another drug poisoning incident. Few years ago it was Heroin now we have Ice (Meth) abundantly. Would you like to comment on this HRC chairman ?

Why do you always point your finger at someone else ? Is that the teachings of the traditional culture ? Why aren’t you as a parent not responsible for this mess ?

    City Monday, 06 August 2018 03:41 PM

Well said Mr Jaliya. I agree with you.we as parents should be more responsible.blaming others and trying to praise our culture has become a habit.

Facebook parties are a real menace.Police must get those organisers to book. They nèed to be vigilant on thiskind of get-togethers in future before the worst can happen. That is called real intelligence. ..

    stardust Sunday, 05 August 2018 10:11 PM

you will have less of this problems with the hard drugs if you legalize marihuana many western countries have legalized it via DM Android App

    Roshan Monday, 06 August 2018 03:01 PM

There are more problems in the countries which have legalised and many more problems are to arise in the future..

    karu Sunday, 05 August 2018 11:25 PM

Drugs..Drugs... Drugs... or high % of alcohol spirit

    Sammy Monday, 06 August 2018 10:19 AM

there is a event check done by Colombo municipal where they visit all hotels where there is a event and check the license, etc. Cant the narcotics guys also have something like this ? I am sure the intelligence is working right in the Police Dept and when a event is organised its done well in advance. All hotels must submit events taking place of this nature with details of the organiser with the police or relevant authorities and spot checks have to be done

    Roshan Monday, 06 August 2018 12:40 PM

always blame on the organizers... but who can stop people who have used drugs from outside and come to the event...I saw lots of people Drinking outside the venue in their vehicles. and I saw two of the dead guys were carried to the medical unit the organizers have placed at the venue. Those boys have used illegal Drugs and surely overdosed or those drugs are poisonous... Investigations should carried out with the friends of the dead ones to track who supplied the Drugs and take actions for these illegal drug dealers.

Just because their event was published on Facebook, doesn't mean its a Facebook party. This is sponsored by Yes FM and organised by Heavenly Gates. Foreign artists were performing along with locals. Just because three people who couldn't control their drugs died, doesn't need to close parties. Only the flow of drugs has to be stopped. But seeing how the government answers problems they could ban Facebook as a closure.

The participants are all adults and not just kids or toddlers. They must have their thoughts and limitations and act accordingly without blaming others. When the families and communities, households are under going untold economic hardships it is foolish and madness for our youths to engage in this sort of follies spending a great deal of money. Our parents, societies and Government failed to make provisions, facilities, opportunities and regimented mechanisms( Shramadana, Social welfare, Health camps, Visist to home for the aged etc.) to utilize the useful leisure hours in noble, fruitful and useful ventures especially during the week-ends.
