Sujeewa receives Rs.3mn from Mendis Co: B report

According to a B report filed in Court today by the prosecution in connection with the inquiry into the CB bond scam, State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe had received three cheques of Rs.1 million each in 2015 and 2016 from W.M. Mendis & Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd.

The report stated that a former Sub Inspector, who was a member of the state minister’s security detail, had cashed one of the three cheques received in 2015 at a bank in Slave Island.

The other two cheques received in 2015 and 2016 were cashed by two other police officers attached to the state minister’s security detail.(Yoshitha Perera)

Election was in 2015 and why did he receive money in 2016? Also the Very Very serious issue is SS should not have sat in judgement in COPE over the bond case. All he had to do was to disclose and step aside in COPE. Instead: (1) went to court to stop the first bond report being published (2) wrote a book saying there was no wrong committed (3) part of the foot note group (4) went on media stating nothing wrong had been by Perpetual (4) got Police officers to encase the cheques. Since SS shouts so much that he is Mr Clean he should resign. But how can he live without the power and money that comes with being a state minister? So he will say every excuse and stay on with no shame. Now it’s upto us voter will send him home, next election.
