Fast bowler Lasith Malinga yesterday hinted at a possible return to international cricket. In a video post, Malinga who is currently with the Mumbai Indians as their bowling mentor says he is ready to give his best for the country if selected for Sri Lanka’s next limited over assignment against South Africa.
With 492 international wickets across all three formats, Malinga last played for Sri Lanka in September 2017 against India, at home. Even though Sri Lanka played two more series later that year, with Pakistan and India, he did not find a place in the final squad. And not only was he kept out of the final squad of 16 that left for Bangladesh in mid-January for the tri-series, he wasn’t among the 23 players initially picked for the tour–a clear indication of what awaits who was once a most feared and successful limited-over bowler for Sri Lanka.
At 34, Malinga claims he has no long-term goals in cricket but that he is happy to provide his services up to the 2019 World Cup in England. But it does not seem like he will be part of Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign.

He should be taken to South Africa at least for limited over matches. He is still better than the crop of bowlers we now have except Lakmal

I agree with Malinga, This guy deserves better.I hope our selectors would give him one more chance and decide based on his performance whether to include him in the 2019 World Cup squad.Malinga has done a yeoman service to our country and couldn’t forget his superb bowling spell as Ipl Mumbai Indians bowler with 4 for 4.I am for him in our squad.

Malinga, should prove his fitness and should then be selected on performance, either domestic or other tournaments he is part of. Hopefully, he will prove his worth and get back. Age is no bar, let him perform

This guy now wants to play for his country when he lost his IPL position...it's better to lose matches with new, young bowlers than taking this spent force back...

I too agree with Lasith, we should give him a chance, let him pro his capability, we should not forgate him, he has given us lots of win on matches, let him try give him a chance.
