UNP Assistant Leader and former Minister Ravi Karunanayake said today he could build up the economy in 100 days if he was given the responsibility.

Addressing a meeting held at UNP office in Thotalanga, MP Karunanayake said state officials who go behind politicians do not change with the change of government.

“It is they who mess up the country's economy. The action of a few people attached to the government had put the economy in a mess,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said it is a common fact that the tusker with sacred relics usually walks in front of a perahera.

“However, those who walk in front of the government are political henchmen and stilt walkers. It is they who sabotage the efforts of the President and the Prime Minister to build the economy. Both leaders are aware of this situation,” he said.

Referring to the new tax on gold imports, he said the tax was not necessary. (Yohan Perera)

This Government is very weak, allowing the thieves to makestatements about key factors which affect the whole Lankans. He was the Finance minister when the Gov Treasury was robbed by Mahendran and the group. As he was unknown about this huge theft, he did not have any knowledge about what was happening inside or weak knowledge about finance including his immediate Boss. He is stupid enough to make this type of foolish statements, may be interested in bringing a thrill to the fools, how could he bring the fallen Lankan economy up in 100 days. We can believe him at least he was capable of catching the robbery while it was happening or after that. Even when the opposition informed about the theft, it was unknown to him/them. You see this type of no. 1 incapable ministers handling the Lankan economy. Even from his current statement, can understand he does not know any thing about Lankan economy or he wants to fool the country to make a cover up for the other thefts he forgot to do.
