A total of 379 people were admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo during the last two days of 13 and 14, Hospital’s Deputy Director General Dr. Kumara Wickramasinghe said today.
He said the number of accidents reported during the New Year had decreased by Three Percent in comparison to the same time last year.
However, 172 people were receiving in house treatment- a 10 percent increase compared with the previous year.
A total of 121 people had been admitted from road accidents while 38 victims of domestic issues had been admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, 56 had been admitted during the period due to other violent incidents.
Six incidents related to firecracker accidents were reported last year but only one incident had been reported this year.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, Spokesperson of the National Hospital Pushpa Ramyani Zoysa advised the public to be cautious to minimize the accidents.(Thilanka Kanakarathna)
