A debate on the current political situation would be held from 4 pm to 7 pm in Parliament today, following a request made by Joint Opposition Leader MP Dinesh Gunawardane.

In the morning, the Parliament session was suspended for 10 minutes when Speaker Jayasuriya responded to MP Gunawardane’s request saying that there was no proposal in the Parliament agenda to hold a debate.

However, during the adjournment, the Party leaders met and decided to hold a debate this evening. (Yohan Perera & Ajith Siriwardane)

The swan alliance was an unholy alliance of parties with different agendas whose only aim was to unseat Rajapakshe. Even after 3 years they cant work with a single agenda. In the end the country has to suffer because of such short sighted political maneuvers.

People of this country should not be regarded as Montessori kids. This is not a political crisis. That is a wrong definition. This is not a struggle against corruption or mismanagement either. . It is a struggle of several individuals to become the next president in 2020..
