A man, who had entered a house at Dutuwewa in Galenbindunuwewa in the early hours of this morning and allegedly attempted to rape a 57 year old spinster living alone in the house, was assaulted to death using the axe by her.
The deceased Telyson Kumara Ratnayake (39) was a mason of the area. The woman surrendered to police and was to be produced in court.
The Police conduct further investigation into the incident. (Dayaratne Abogama)

This lady is quite clearly the victim here. Though the punishment has been harsh this would be rapist has had his just desserts. Let this be a lesson to all those contemplating harassment of innocent females especially those living alone. Maybe she needs to be offered an Army cadre position for her valour! MM
