Govt. schools closed on Friday for LG Elections: Ministry

All the government schools would be closed on Friday, February 9 due to the Local Government Elections to be held on Saturday 10, the Education Ministry said today.

The Ministry said that 19 other schools and two National Institutes of Educations (NIEs) would also be closed on February 7, 8 and 9.

The schools and the NIEs would be closed to issue and to collect ballot boxes, the Ministry said in the release. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
