Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera today met Colombo’s Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith to appreciate measures taken by him to stop private classes on Sundays and Poya Days.
He also thanked the Cardinal for standing up against discreet measures taken to make men and women infertile.
While speaking with Cardinal Ranjith, Ven. Gnanasara Thera said there was an undergoing mission on Ligation and Resection of Tubes (LRT) on women and Vasectomy on men allegedly carried out by Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
During the Past ten years more than 900,000 people had been made infertile, the Thera said.
“During the discussion we proposed the Catholic Church to create an atmosphere to promote inter-religious harmony and hold discussions to create a platform to avert religious discord,” the Thera said.
The Archbishop had responded positively to support and implement such decisions. (Chaturanga Pradeep)

It is a good move to discuss matters, however, some other media reports carried the news that Archbishop stating that Sinhala Buddhists should be protected. Then what about the people of other faiths?

If private lessons of faith were learned well, that fruit basket on the first photo should go to the poor and the monks should all be bare feet.

Forceful male and female sterilization had been taking place in this country, even with the government sponsorship from as back as early 1980', particularly targeting the poor in the plantation sector. Where were these religious leaders then?

A Catholic myself, I'm happy about this. When Buddhism prevails, any other religion can survive. If Sri Lanka becomes Islamic, all the non-Islamic religions would be finished.

how about Friday which is considered sacred for Hindus and muslims.
mali Friday, 15 December 2017 10:29 AM
Muslims attend Jumma on fridays and their business establishments are closed during prayers. Hindus attend early morning or evening or at their convenience. But poya and sunday being holidays buddhist and christian establishments must be closed and make necessary people exercise their faith.

Apart from the fact that the cardinal, unlike the monk, is a gentleman, both do not have to interfere in private family affairs and family planning in this secular state. Both try to stop the constant loss of their followers with all available options. The loss of believers means the loss of power and influence.
mali Friday, 15 December 2017 10:52 AM
It is pity there are so many temples and Buddhist hierarchy, specially the clergy, but only this monk is making every effort, others are busy reading the constitution and confused.

Religion is something personnel, No one can force it upon you. Sunday, Monday or any other auspicious day it is for the individual to decide and practice or go to worship in religious places . We don't need to be fanatics.

We can't enforce the faith to people's mind unless they would realize themselves. It's not about how you better than other religion..It's about how true you for your religion..
