Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando said yesterday that even 20 per cent of the laptops provided to the MPs were not used by them.
He said order papers and other relevant documents were saved in these laptops to facilitate MPs in the House and added that most of them still use the traditional print papers.
The Minister said MPs had even been provided with facilities to operate the computer by scanning their fingerprints after they complained of forgetting the password and proposed that print
documents should not be given to them for a month to compel the new technology on the MPs.
The laptops were provided by the Chinese Parliament under the E- Chamber project recently.

Must have sold them like the Duty Free Permits.
Hiran Saturday, 09 December 2017 04:56 PM
Firstly, you must teach them how to use the laptops. Those guys do not even have OL qualification and probably they would have already sold their laptops, just like they sold the car permits!!!

Saman Saturday, 09 December 2017 05:44 PM
It may be due to few reasons. Most obvious reason is they don't know how to use it. Another reason is, of course another obvious one, which is they may contain far better good stuff than the order papers that can't be open in the parliament.

Not educated enough to use laptops send them back school
Lord Wolfstein Saturday, 09 December 2017 05:48 PM
Finally, a little intelligence is needed to manage a laptop. But what can you expect from MPs who can not even read and write Sinhala?
Yeti Saturday, 09 December 2017 06:06 PM

prakash Saturday, 09 December 2017 06:45 PM
For them to use laptops, they should have head tops, brains.

What if you bought them for several poor students of the country who cannot afford the luxury of a laptop for their education. They would have used them in a productive way.
Dubai Saturday, 09 December 2017 07:33 PM
For that, thay have to use their heads first before using laptops. How many of them know how to make use of it..
Das Saturday, 09 December 2017 07:49 PM
What would one expect with the 94 O Level failures?
MP Sunday, 10 December 2017 10:23 AM
ALL THE FACILITIES TO POLITICIANS, THEY MUST HAVE EITHER SOLD THEM OR GIVEN TO THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS. POLITICIANS ARE A HEADACHE TO TAX PAYING COMMUNITY IN THE COUNTRY. THEIR LAPTOPS WOULD NOT BRING IN ANY BENEFIT TO THE COUNTRY. THEY ARE A BURDEN TO THE COUNTRY.
