Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna has been indefinitely closed due to a possible clash between Sinahla and Tamil students in the university, the university Administration said.
It was reported that a group of Sinhalese students had complained to the Administration about the Tamil students celebration of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran’s death anniversary on the 26th November and the administration has decided to close down the university to prevent any possible clash between the two student groups.
Around 600 students who are occupying the hostel had been advised to evacuate the university premises by this evening. (Romesh Madushanka)

On behalf of the mainstream Tamils of the north, I appeal to the President of Sri Lanka to close the Jaffna University permanently to help to remove from the collective memory the uneducated madman , an Indian trained killer , who sacrificed thousands of Tamil Civilians to the Sri Lankan Army and to the foreign Indian Army .

Sad, where is the brotherhood among these young students studying together gone?

According to the news report ,Tamil students should not have celebrated VP,'s birthday where various kind and races of students study who must have been directly or indirectly affected by LTTE activities just as much as some Tamils were affected by army and police actions .What are these monkeys going to achieve by celebrating ? If anybody wants ,they can celebrate at their home ,if they really admire V Pirabaharan .Because of some idiotic mad fellows ,other innocent students whether they are Tamils , Sinhalese or Muslims will lose their studies and nobody has the right to disturb the piece in a higher seat of learning when the government is little lenient unlike the previous dictator .Closing will not do , celebration should be banned hereafter .

Government should be very strict on this matter. All the Tamil student should be arrested. When Tamil students are doing their studies un hindered in the south the behavior of this resist cant be accepted. They are celebrating a killer who brought misery to this country and all the communities.
