At least five passengers were killed and 49 others injured when a bus travelling from Colombo to Jaffna toppled at 10th mile post at Madurankuliya in Puttalam this morning, Police said.
They said the bus had met with the accident when it was attempting to overtake a three-wheeler.
The injured were admitted to the Puttalam, Mundalama and Chilaw Hospitals.

Majority of the accidents are caused by buses, three wheelers, tippers and motor bikes and drivers of other vehicles.... strict action should be taken to driver and owners

We have a traffic police who is senile, incompetent and full of yakkos from the villages. Their only concern is to pass time of their duty, do some business and scoot off but not fulfilling the duty they are intended to perform.
