Two Police Constables were arrested on charges of having solicited a bribe of Rs. 2,000 from a lorry driver in Anuradhapura, the Police said.

They said the lorry driver had complained to the North Central Province DIG after he received notices on a traffic offence even after the two Police Constables accepted a bribe to prevent a legal action being filed against the driver.

The suspects were released on a surety of Rs. 100,000 each by the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court. (Dayaratne Embogama)

Police are in a country to look after the community and deploy the law and order but Sri Lanka police in the different path they are tugs and misuse the public funds and try to intermediate the innocent public. They accept bribes and they work for favours of businessmen and thugs. This culture must change.

No! it is extremely wrong to arrest this single policeman, if so, you should arrest more than 90 percent of policemen serving around Sri Lanka for mere Rs. 2000/-.
