The CID today recorded a statement from former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha for three hours, Police said.

They said he had reported to the CID to record a statement in connection with the defender jeep donated to the Siriliya Saviya Foundation by the Red Cross in 2011 and thereafter used to provide security to a VIP.

The CID recorded a statement from Yoshitha's mother Shiranthi Rajapaksa on Tuesday in connection with the same case. (Darshana Sanjeewa)

How dare Police can interview the son of former President. We should understand one thing very clear Rajapakses family never misused public money. They worked hard for the people of Sri Lanka. They spent all their wealth for the betterment of our people. Today they have money to maintain their living expenses. We are grateful for them.
