The Army personnel, who took over the operations of the Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela petroleum distribution control were withdrawn this evening, Army Spokesman Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne said.
He said the decision was taken after the employees agreed to conduct smooth work.
“The special teams deployed for the control of the petroleum distribution had been recalled,” he said.

Army should not be withdrawn immediately as workers are wounded tigers. They will do much damage to the installations and go again on strike. They left the corporation after having diffused tyres. To ensure free supply, presence of army is essential for a short time.

Petroleum, Medical and Transport must be made essentail services all the time to preven disruption of the smooth running of the country. At the same time a procedure must be put in place to listen to their grievances.

There are no grievances. It is simply a matter of an ideology of a small group who is trying to force their will on the majority of people and power greediness of some cornered rats who would steep down to do anything for their survival.

These petro corp guys are not the producers or the owners of oil. They were just a cog in the distribution process who thought they could take the country for a ride like the doctors. The government should have acted for faster and more firmly. Thanks to our service personnel.
