THERE IS NO NEED FOR A GARBAGE DUMP ONLY IF THE AUTHORITIES COULD FORCE THE GARBAGE GENERATORS TO SEGREGATE THE GARBAGE INTO 2: BIO DEGRADABLE AND NON BIO DEGRADABLE. Bio degradable can be turned into compost and the others could be sorted out with a gang of kuddas.

I heard of plans to transform Sri Lanka into a financial / commercial / tourism and IT hub in South Asia...but before doing that: clean the country! Put those garbage mountain inside containers and negotiate dispose services with foreign countries who can do that job. Do we have a Ministry for Enviroment in this jumbo cabinet? so? Sri Lanka will never be that pearl you all think and talk about. Find the responsibles and punish them! We need a TRUE reform in the administration of the country!

There has been no rain to cause a slip. Is it that gases generated within the garbage has caused to raise upper layers and loosen to cause this slip? This disaster could have been avoided. Those who talk so much about Port City and selling assets should have taken a greater interest listening to genuine protesters.
