Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Artigala today ordered former MP Duminda Silva to pay a fine of Rs.3,000 after he pleaded guilty for not declaring his assets and liabilities from 2011 to 2013.

The Additional Magistrate ordered the former MP be imprisoned for three months in the event he failed to pay the fine. (Nimanthi Ranasinghe)

D.Silva can appeal against this verdict that he cannot pay on the grounds that he is in the cell awaiting execution. Or he can refuse to pay so that his imprisonment will be prolonged for another 3 months as additional punishment. Hilarious verdicts should be met with hilarious appeals.

It is better to pay the fine of Rs. 3000/- instead of paying in Millions if the Assets is declared.
