A group of five children bathing in the Mahaweli River at Dunhinda in Gampola yesterday got into difficulty and three of them disappeared while others managed to escape unhurt.
Police said the disappeared were residents of the age and about 13 years of age.
Navy divers had recovered the bodies of the victims a short while ago and referred them to Nanu Oya hospital for postmortem examination.
Gampola police are conducting further investigations.
