A 48-year-old man was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last evening while attempting to bring in 1,200 packets of D-ERA fertilizer containing pesticide which is banned in Sri Lanka.
Police said each packet weighed 100 grams.
The raid was conducted following a tip off received by the arrival lounge officers.
The suspect, a resident of Kottaramulla, is to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate today.
Airport police are conducting investigations.
