Daily power cuts till Friday: CEB

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that three-and-a-half hour daily power cuts would be imposed till Friday (21) with effect from today due to a breakdown at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant.

CEB Spokesman Sulakshana Jayawardana said the country had been divided into four zones and power supply would be disrupted for two-and-a-half-hour during the daytime and one hour in the evening for each zone.

However, he said the power cut would not be imposed in Colombo, at hospitals and Industrial zones.(DS)

It is not the fault of plant but poor maintenance of distributing lines..Plant get auto shut up for its protection .If MR not set this plant up then what is the situation ..Vladimir Putin has declared open Krundamkulam nuclear power station in south India last weekend. So India will insist our puppets to buy their electricity and not allow us to built our own.

I called the CEB regarding this and this is what the operator or technician told me - "This is a 3rd world country. We are poor and underprivileged." Amazing answer and quite right too. For once, they were honest. It would have been better if he had mentioned that the ministers are incompetent and only interested in filling their own pockets. Ah well.

If not for the norichcholie plant, we will be in the dark for next 5 years. Guys do we have any positive plan to put up even one alternative power plant? ??NO Then why criticise the existing plant ?MR is no more in power. People have got fed up with stories of MR's commisions and recovering commissions so that people can be given bracelets.
