Maldivian nabbed at BIA while smuggling Rs. 6.7 Mn

A 53 year old Maldivian was arrested by the Airport Police at Bandaranaike International Airport when he attempted to smuggle out USD 45,000 (Rs. 6.7 Mn) to Maldives last evening.

The suspect had hidden the currency in his travelling bag. (T.K.G.Kapila)

    i do not think he hide any USD, Maldivians are generally using US currency when they travel abroad, similar incident occurred long time ago and narcotic police stole some of the items from the baggage.
