The Jana Satana Paada Yathrawa organised by the Joint Opposition was prevented from entering into Mawanella town by the police officers near the Ganethenna area this evening as the procession was ordered not to enter the city limits.
However, a meeting was held by former president MP Mahinda Rajapaksa at Ganethenna. The march is scheduled to begin tomorrow outside Mawanella city limits. (Ajith Siriwardana & Nadeeka Daya Bandara)

UNP also had paada yathra many times when SLFP was in power. They even came on bullock carts and smashed hatti mutti on the road. That was right and this was wrong?

Well said Surasena, this is the culture of the sinhalese racebeleive me 35% of the entire sinhalese buddhist populationhave their IQ in the negetive, this group goes from the south to the some sections of the central and and even in the some in the hill capital,it is a sad plight, but MR is responsible for this status ,remember he will be cursed with his currupt family for generations to come,he will pay for this before his misarable death soon

Now we are living in 21st century. If anyone got a political message for the masses, their are many ways of communication; TV, Radio, e-net, etc.., needs not to make huge traffic jams and waste colossal sums of public money on the road.
Daya Friday, 29 July 2016 04:00 AM
If all the money and hours spent on this made available to the needy as a voluntary service then few hundred thousand people and their family would have benefited out.

This "YATRA" should not be allowed to enter any town because we saw on TV news how its participants blocked and harassed an ambulance carrying patients. These fellows have no sympathy even for the sick.

To inconvenience the public to win a personal gain is selfish! Oooops I forgot that all politicians are selfish
Manel Friday, 29 July 2016 02:27 AM
The aim of the JO is to deliberately make traffic jams to make people suffer so that the Govt, which indict robbers and plunderers from former regime, would be unpopular..
