A Bangladeshi national trying to smuggle in 1.151 Kg of gold was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport by Customs officials today.
The individual, who was flying to Bangladesh, had hidden 11 gold biscuits in his bag and hidden 3 gold biscuits, gold chains and bangles in his slippers.
Officials said the gold valued at Rs. 5.7 million was taken into custody and that investigations are being conducted. (Ranjith Ferdinandez)
