The Cabinet today approved a proposal to construct two elevated highways within two years, it is learnt.
Highways Minister Lakshman Kiriella submitted the Cabinet memorandum in this regard. One highway is to be constructed from Kelaniya to the Colombo Port, and the other from Kelaniya to Rajagiriya.(Kelum Bandara)

Its not the minister who decides the design LOL... experts do the design and the minister only talks about it and approves if it looks like a good plan. I believe the experts are from Singapore. via DM iOS App

Close down all Colombo schools, sell the land and use the funds for more productive things other than highways.

This move is good. People who wants to go south they can enter to southern expres way through Kadawatha or Kaduwela.

Mt. Minister, have your minostry done a proper study as to what is priority? As far as I can see Galle Road, High level road, Negombo road, Kandy road, low level road, Rajagiriya Malabe needs Highways from Colombo city cebtre. I doubt whether you have studied these requirements properly. It seems like this government is also executing adhoc road development just like Rajapakse regime. Dissapointed, very dissapointed. We shud hv a mimister with engineeting back groind tp handle this monstry. We have only one Engineer in the whooe cabinet.

It appears they are being built for industrial and logistical work. Should look for ADB or JICA for low interest loans
