Island Dairies Pvt. Ltd. received accolades at the Entrepreneur of the Year award ceremony organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL), when they received 2 Gold Awards at this prestigious event.
The Awards were presented to the organization under the National level and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Medium Scale Industry category.
“With a history of 35 years in the industry, we have utilized our own fresh using modern technology and meeting all health standards and produced high quality milk products. Supplying highly nutritious products to our country, as a local company, we have joined hands with the people of our country and the milk farmers organizations in ensuring economic viability to our country and nation,” said Sampath Liyanage, Managing Director of Island Dairies on receiving this great honour.
Having completed his higher education at Kingswood College, Kandy, he proceeded to Australia to further his education in Business Management. He held the position of Chairman of the Kegalle United Traders’ Association and Secretary of the Milk and Milk Food Products Association of Sri Lanka. “Having commenced operations as a self employment project in 1981, our target is to become one of the country’s leading milk and milk food products companies,” stated Liyanage Karunarathna, Chairman of Island Dairies.
Island Dairies has the distinction of having received the ISO 22000 : 2005 certification in addition to HACCP and GMP certifications. The company employs a dedicated team of qualified staff possessing Diploma holders in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in addition to highly trained personnel having local and foreign exposure in the industry.
